YOUR COSTUME REQUIRED IN CHAFFEE

YOUR COSTUME REQUIRED IN CHAFFEE – JUNE 1, 2012

The 1960s featured a number of diverse trends that broke
fashion traditions, following the social movements during
the decade. Mid-decade, culottes, box-shaped PVC dresses
and go-go boots were popular. The bikini hit big in 1963 after
being featured in the musical Beach Party.
Mini skirts arrived, and Jackie Kennedy introduced the
pillbox hat, with false eyelashes were worn by women
throughout the 1960s. Hairstyles were a variety of lengths
and styles, and people chose psychedelic prints, highlighter
colors, and mismatched patterns.  The hippie culture reached
into the fashion world, adding bell-bottom jeans, tie-dye, and
batik fabrics, as well as paisley prints.
Designers began producing clothing more suitable for
young adults driving interests and sales.

Chaffee Medicap Pharmacy’s 5oth Anniversary Celebration begins
tonight with a street dance, 1960s costume and dance contest, and
features Bill Hulvey and Side Street Band, with Susan Anderson
Bell—7-10pm this evening.  Come out and join us for the fun!
Don’t overdo it on your costume, though…you wouldn’t
want to hurt yourself.
